I guess I am a nerd...

Pure Nerd
56 % Nerd, 17% Geek, 21% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.

The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

Congratulations!

My little nativity

I noticed something today while I was out on a walk with Kona that I had seen several times but never really realized what I was observing. I like to take Kona on the dike behind our house because I can let her off leash and there is lots of room for her to run and birds to chase. As we were leaving she flushed a pair of ringnecked pheasants. She's done this dozens of times but the cool thing I noticed was that the male who is more colorful and "flashy" flew out of the nest towards us, high in the air, while he made a bunch of noice. The female, more plain (see pictures) flew the opposite direction, close to the ground and without making a sound. I hardly noticed she was there. So that's what I noticed. Take it for what you want.

priorities

to mary's dad. I don't mind at all that you read my blog. It's there for peoples entertainment. I'm glad you like it :) I get most of my cool pictures from work. The elk picture is actually a scam. These guys took a ton of pictures like this and worked their way all the way to the top. Yep, everyone believed them. They got awards for the worlds largest elk and everything. I'm not exactly sure what happened when they were caught but I hear the penalty was pretty bad. The bird and fox picture is real though. That was taken by one of the biologists at the office its a golen eagle. I love the crazy stories and pictures that come back to the office. It makes the job all worth it.

A long road trip

I think my favorite part about working at mud lake is watching the sun burst up over the frozen lake.

Kori's new puppy! Her name is granite she is 5 Months old and very skinny. She was found wandering around on the streets a few weeks ago. We got her from the pound yesterday. I think her and Kona will be good friends as soon as granite starts feeling better from getting fixed.
