Thanksgiving break was awesome. California is sunny and beautiful as usual. Renting a car was fun. I really like having the freedom to go where ever I want in a reliable vehicle. I don't know if I would have appreciated it as much though if I hadn't been there so many times without one. We got to go to mexico, hollywood, san diego and hemet. I left my camera in Lizettes car so I can't post any pictures of the trip yet. It set me really far back on my homework though, so I better go.

wow, I can't wait for the semester to be over. I'm getting behind in my classes, not because there's too much work but because I think I'd rather do anything than study. I think it's hard to re-take classes because you're stuck learning about the same thing over and over again when I didn't want to learn it in the first place. It's actually really making my re-think my career options. I saw a cool ad on t.v. the other day about drug research. I think that would be fun.
The thermostat in our house is broken and it's always freezing!
I am addicted to peanut butter and honey. It's all I've eaten for days. I had toast with peanut butter and honey on it for breakfast and a peanut butter and honey sandwich for lunch.
We played and won our second basketball game last night. I learned what screening for someone is. Geese I suck at that sport. I'm glad the girls on my team are patient.
I have a mammalogy test to take today but I also have my night class til 10. oops I should have planned ahead.

New Web Page :)

ok, I'm still going to be updating my blog but I want everyone to check out the begginings of my new web page...it still has a lot of kinks to work out, but it takes me a long time to change things on it and I'll just have to get it done a little at a time. The "present" button will take you here, to my blog and the "photos" button leads to brians photo album (which is awesome. If you haven't explored it you should). Inside brian's album there's a Jo section that I'll be making my album in. Yes, in case you haven't noticed my web page is basically a parasite on Brians. It's cheaper this way for me and it's just easier. So check it out at jo.theworldofbrian.com or carriejo.theworldofbrian.com :)

I'm swimming in my first swim meet this afternoon and I'm nervous. I was just getting confident when my good friend Janet from high school called and when I told her she laughed and asked "Carrie, do you even know how to swim?" I told her to shut up and assured her that between Alex, Angela and my beggining swimming class that I could kick her trash in the pool (she swam in high school) but secretly inside I just hope I don't come in last. One of my roommates is swimmng the same race that I am. I hope I beat her too. She used to be a lifeguard but never swims now, just sits home and watches t.v.

Yesterday I found some time in between my classes to go to the gym and ran into Sven. It was a nice day outside and he convinced me to go running with him if I could set the pace and he picked the route...so yeah I ran the farthest that I have ever ran in my life yesterday! I am wasted. Suprisingly though my shoulders and lower back are more sore than my legs. Don't get me wrong though my legs are plenty tired. We basically ran the route that we rode our bikes on for the triathalon but we didn't take that extra loop and instead of going down that big hill we took a right and went past the water tower. Sven said it was about 6 miles. Which I know is not that big of a deal for all of my friends who are training for marathons but I'm not!
Today was pretty normal for a thursday. I've decided that I'm one of the most predictable people ever. I literally do the same thing on the same days and am about the same amount of time late to the same things and get the same grades on the same kinds of tests, eat the same foods and do the same things to relax everyday. Oh well though I guess it just means I've found a niche I like. For FHE we wrote things about eachother and a lot of people said I was spontaneous. I guess I fooled them.

My petition to stay another semester went through and I registered for classes. Good news :) for the classes I'm re-taking, I got A's in the labs so I don't have to do them again. That will free up my schedule a lot and make more room for my job that's supposed to take up over 20 hours a week. I'm on an intermural basketball team and we had our first game yesterday. I never really realized how I have no idea how to play basketball! I don't know the names of the positions or what they're supposed to do and I know tons of dumb church basketball game rules and none of the real ones. Oh well though, we won and it's fun to learn.

Well, this weekend was an adventure. Sven was in town and Friday night Kori, Sven and I decided it would be fun to go climbing because we were going to have good weather. So Friday at like midnight we took all the seats out of Sven's van, piled it full of blankets and everything we thought we'd need and headed south. We drove till about Pocatello, parked and crashed in the back of the van. Saturday morning we went to the continental breakfast at Ameri tel inn and it was the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. They had omletts, waffles, cinnamon rolls, cereal, fruit, yogurt and tons of pastries and juice and hot chocolate. So after we were stuffed and took some for the road we headed down to Massacre rock. We followed these directions we got off the internet and they took us down these dirt roads that we got lost at least 3 times on and finally we saw another car, parked next to it and hiked down to the climbs. Massacre rock is huge! There were so many climbs. Most of them were really hard, but we got about 5 different climbs in that day. The rock was a lot different than Paramount and so were the routes, but it was fun to have something different and they were a lot more challenging. We had a few good falls too. Kori was lead climbing and was up as high as she needed to be to clip in, but was out to the right a good body length or two away from the bolt. Thats where she fell and dropped mostly straight down about 8 feet or so at first, hit the rock and then swung way over and smacked the rock again. I was belaying and it made me pretty nervous, but she was ok. We lowered her down and she cut herself up a little bit. We got pictures so I'll post them as soon as I get a chance.
So at about 3 we had to go because Sven had a date that night and we were about 1 mile from Massacre rock when we hit a rock in the road pretty hard. We stopped to check out the car and the oil was pouring out. So we turned off the car and I called my mom hoping we could use our AAA service and get towed to town. Apparently we don't have AAA anymore so my mom just called the police. So the cops were coming to get us and all we had to do was wait. We waited for 4 1/2 hours! I have no idea what we did for that long. We told eachother stories for a little while, Sven called and canceled his date, and I was on the phone with the dispatcher trying to give him directions until my phone went dead. Then it started to get really dark and I was a little concerned because no one really knew where we were. This is when we lit a lantern and stuck it on top of the car so someone could see us. We were so out in the middle of no where and the confusing part was that there were a few other groups climbing and they never passed us. They must have known a better way out. Well, we started to get hungry and we were eating dry oatmeal and peanut butter. Then we remembered Sven brought his alcohol stove and some clam chowder. So we lit the stove and put it outside the van door and it started catching all the little weeds on fire. We put them out and cooked the soup. Just as we were finishing up the officer showed up in a truck. Then as we were trying to put away the stove so we could go it rolled under neath the car and started catching things on fire again! I was a little nervous because we had tons of oil spilled everywhere and there was a lot of dry brush. Sven smothered it though and we got in the truck for a ride home. Kori and I sat in the back seat under a gun rack that had machine gun on it. It was cool. He took us to the sheriffs office in American Falls and Svens friend Steph picked us up from there and took us to her place in Pocatello. She is one of the nices hosts I have ever met. She bought us stuff from the grocery store and totally went out of her way to do anything we needed her to. That night we caught the last half of the Warren Miller film (snowboarding video) and crashed at Steph's place. Sunday morning we raided her roommates closets for some church clothes and went to her ward. She had sacrament first like you're supposed to. I miss having church like that. After church and hanging out for a while Steph took us to Blackfoot where we met Kori's Uncle who asked us to stay for dinner. We had really good lamb chops, potatoes and rolls. Then he took us back to the burg. Our roommates were just finishing up dinner so we ate a little...again and later that night I went over to my brothers house for a cool sunday night jam on the guitar with some drums and a high hat. Then I went home and watched part of broke down palace. It was a busy weekend and now I'm pretty busy catching up on homework. It'll be nice when the semester is over. I need to write a petition to stay here another semester to. I hope they let me!

snowman steamers

today is a slow day. I woke up only a few minutes late which actually put me ahead of schedule because I've learned to plan for sleeping an extra half hour or so. I caught a ride to school instead of riding my bike because I'm tired of peeling it off the frozen grass and having to scrape off my bike seat. Not to mention the fact that yesterday my rear brakes froze and I almost flew over my handle bars because of it. Speaking of bike accidents, Kori got hit by a car yesterday! It wasn't bad though. The car was pulling out of a parking lot and Kori was riding on the sidwalk and decided to go around the back of the car. Well, I guess they decided they couldn't make it into traffic and backed up into the parking lot and right into Kori. I thought it was kinda funny.
After swim class I walked through the library quad and discovered that our school now sells steamers on campus for just a buck! Just another reason why I love BYU-Idaho.
Angela, I'm sorry you had such a crappy day at the bus stop. Shame on Mary for leaving you there...Mary I hope you're reading this!
Randy, don't procrastinate your homework! You and me both though buddy. I've got a research paper due tomorrow and I'm not even for sure of my topic. Plus I have to work and be in class today till 6. It' s going to be a great night.

By the way everybody...Targee opens the 19th! It would be rockin if we could all go together!!

This weekend Angela, Sven and Mary came up to visit and it was a blast. Friday night we got together with Haylee Jenny and Kori and we headed to Angela's grandma's cabin. When we got there, I'm not really sure what happened because I sat my lazy butt in the car, but apparently there was shattered glass and dead mice and stuff there so we went to victor and stayed in a posh cabin that Sven used to live in. We watched entrapment, ate apple crisp that angela made and hung out. The next morning we ate breakfast at the white horse cafe and got huge pancakes. Then after a long hastle of getting everyone together, finding cell phones, gear and making sure we dropped off everyone who didn't want to go and picked up everyone who did we drove up to Targee and hiked through the snow all the way up to lift 17. There was soo much powder up there that we could barely snowboard back down. It was fun though and afterwards we ate chilli, french bread and those really good pumpkin spice and chocolate chip bar things that angela makes. Then we watched the mummy for our halloween celebration and went to bed. Sunday morning we went to Mary's friends ward to watch her give a talk and then Mary and Angela went home. That afternoon Tiff, Kori and I went to Kori's house for dinner and we had roast, corn, and potatoes. I love Idaho food. That night was halloween so Kori and I dressed up and went trick or treating. We got a lot of people telling us that trick or treating was supposed to be yesterday, but we stood strong until I was to cold to go on. Then we went home and I gourged myself on candy and we watched hidalgo and went to bed. There has been a lot of movie watching and candy eating lately. Tonight is our FHE halloween party and I have decided I'll have some candy there and then I'm not going to eat any sweets until Thanksgiving when I have pumpking pie.
